About Janus Behavioral Health Services

Paulette Janus, LCSW

I have had the privilege of providing behavioral health services for over 15 years, working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and organizations. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of JANUS Behavioral Health Services, a multifaceted behavioral health practice with offices in Chicago.

I provide individual, family, and couples psychotherapy for all ages, specializing in children, teens, and families. I am also trained in alternative dispute resolution interventions, providing family/divorce mediation, collaborative divorce coaching and child specialist services, co-parent coaching, and parent coordination. In addition, I consult with various businesses, community agencies, and schools as a guest speaker and consultant.

My practice is driven by the mind/body connection, particularly how emotional health impacts all life areas including work and school functioning, relationships, physical health and disease progression, and even financial decisions. I focus on building a supportive, positive relationship tailoring my work to the individual needs of my clients. I use an interactive, strengths-based, and solutions-oriented approach with suggestions and humor to help my clients through life transitions and challenges.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Northwestern University and my Masters of Social Work degree with a health focus from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I completed internships at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in the inpatient oncology and immunology units and at Stroger Hospital of Cook County in the outpatient pediatric and OB/GYNE units. I worked as an adoption preservation therapist at Catholic Charities of Chicago and as a psychotherapist at Mt. Sinai Hospital in the outpatient Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Program. I trained in Divorce Mediation through the School of Continuing Studies at Northwestern University and Collaborative Divorce through the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois.

Organizational affiliations include the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois (CLII), the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP), and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC). I am a current member of the Board of Directors of the AFCC Illinois Chapter and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Lake View YMCA.

When I am not working, I enjoy reading, yoga, sailing, scuba-diving, traveling, and curling up on the couch with my snoring pug.
